Meet Our Team

I am Jacqueline Cherry, LCSW a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, NYU graduate, and founder of Therapy Beyond Walls. For more than 20 years I have worked alongside individuals, couples, families, and children during some of life’s most complex moments. What has stayed with me through all of it is this healing happens when people feel truly met. Not managed. Not translated. Met.

I founded Therapy Beyond Walls because I knew the mental health system was not built with everyone in mind. Black people, people of color, immigrants, and those carrying the weight of systemic inequity often spend more energy explaining their experience than actually healing from it. This practice exists to change that.

Here you do not have to justify your story or make it easier for others to understand. You bring the full weight of who you are your history, your culture, your responsibilities, your pain and we do the work from there. That includes the exploration of racial trauma and how it lives in the body, the family, and the present moment.

My approach is holistic and culturally responsive. I draw on CBT, DBT, and Family Systems Therapy not as a formula but as tools I adapt to fit your specific life and needs.I believe therapy is one of many contributions to healing. My goal is not only to help you find relief but to support you in building the kind of inner foundation that holds you long after our work together ends.

When I am not with clients I am spending time with family, exploring new places, and tending to my own wellness because I believe what I ask of my clients, I must also ask of myself.
